ESERA 2025
Morning Excersise
Each morning, we offer a selection of activities — some paid, most free.
You can find descriptions in this online programme and an overview below, where additional information is also available. Some activities require signing up, while others simply require you to show up at a specific time and place. Finally, we have suggestions for activities you can organise yourselves (labelled DIY).
Morning walks with LOC each day
Join up with the local organising committee for a walk (and talk) before the conference starts. Each day a different route – and a different host leading the way. You can walk in silence or talk with fellow walkers on the way.
How to attend: Show up at the starting point at an appropriate time. At 7:30, we start walking and will be at the venue at 8:30 – in time for you to get a refreshment and attend the first session.
- The activity is free of charge.
- Walk details and starting point can be found in the online programme.
Swimming in the harbor (free, DYI)
There are several areas for bathing and swimming in the harbour area and close to Øksnehallen. Generally, the harbour is safe for swimming, and there are warning systems for when it is not safe. Here is a Google Map with most locations. Here is a link to Kbh Havn – an app that will show you all locations and also provide information about current water quality.
Note: Bathing outside of the marked areas is prohibited and you can get fined for it.
Swimming in pool and Fitness at DGI byen (free access)
As an ESERA participant, you have free access to the Vandkulturhuset (swimming pool and fitness center) from Monday 25 August to Friday 29 August.
How to access:

Running routes (free, DYI)
A lot of people run in the green areas of Copenhagen. We have selected a few routes that can be scaled. Below you’ll find short descriptions and optional starting points for each route.
Route 1: The Lakes.
Suggestion: Start at Tycho Brahe Planetarium, and make your way around one, two – or as many of the lakes at you want. As you run around each lake, notice the many differences as you also run through different parts of the city (Vesterbro, Nørrebro, Østerbro). The full “lake loop” is 6.3 km.
Route 2: The Ramparts at Christianshavn.
Suggestion: Start at Langebrogade and run up the small path on your right (use Google Maps’ street view to see the path). From here, you can do different loops ranging from about 1,5 km to about 7,5 km. The longer round trips will take you through some of the unique Christiania architecture. We’ve indicated the longest round trip here.
Route 3: The Harbour Circle.
This is a 2, 4, 7, or 13 km route around the harbour area. You can see the full route here. A good place to start is at Lille Langebro. Note! This route is also good for biking.
Route 4: Amager Fælled.
This is a nature reserve with multiple possible running routes. You can find a possible, 5,4 km route, here; for this route, you could take the metro to Islands Brygge and run from there.

Take advantage of a wide range of extra activities during the conference week — including yoga, fitness, saunagus, dance classes and more — hosted at DGI Byen.
These activities are open to everyone, not just conference participants.
We highly recommend registering in advance to both secure your spot and help ensure that the activity will take place (especially the Rooftop Yoga sessions)
