Enjoy the nature of The Botanical Garden

Go for a visit in the Botanical Garden before 6 PM. The Botanical Garden is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Copenhagen, inviting peace and immersion in the world of nature. The garden is home to Denmark’s collection of rare plants from around the world and is especially known for its iconic Palm House. Afterwards you can bring take away dinner to the King’s Garden. The King’s Garden is a firm favourite with the people of Copenhagen. On sunny days, they flock here to enjoy a picnic in the sun, play games and go for a leisurely stroll.

The garden was originally laid out in the early 17th century as a park and kitchen garden to Christian IV’s castle Rosenborg. At the time, it formed the setting of various entertainments arranged to amuse the King and his guests and supplied the royal household at Copenhagen Castle with fruit and vegetables. Right up until the turn of the last century, the garden continued to be used as a kitchen garden for the royal household.

Today, the King’s Garden is one of Copenhagen’s most popular parks, attracting approximately three million visitors every year. The park continues to form the backdrop of many entertaining activities; for example, it is home to a fairytale playground and a traditional puppet theatre.
